Began customizing Skyrim right away. First I installed Skyui and the script extender. I’ve observed that even with the mods active, my system performance stays solid at around 60 frames per second. However, temperatures have risen significantly—from high 60s to mid-80s in the base game (including all DLC and texture packs) when running the mods. Since these mods shouldn’t strain the hardware, I’m puzzled about the temperature spikes. My machine is an i7 6700hq with a GTX960m (2GB), and 16GB of RAM. I aim to keep temperatures under 80°C for longevity and comfort, as the fans only ramp up to 100% once reaching 80°C, which keeps the system quieter.

This situation is new to me, but it highlights why laptops aren't ideal for gaming.

This action forces your CPU to perform more tasks than when the game is running normally, which could explain the increased load.

Performing an A B test while monitoring GPU activity. The mods shouldn’t cause unusual CPU or GPU load, especially since SkS and SkyUI aren’t expected to spike usage.

Skse serves more as a facilitator for other mods rather than a standalone feature. Skyui functions mainly as a visual enhancement, so the system shouldn’t have to perform additional tasks beyond normal operation. Expect performance changes if you add an enb or numerous texture packs, but the mods already installed should run smoothly.

It's pretty wild how some players handle running hundreds of mods without too many problems—especially when it comes to higher numbers. Vram tends to cause more trouble at those levels too.

I believe I own around 213 or 220 mods, but it’s because the ENB is so detailed that it altered the cover of every book in the game—every bottle, every fruit, everything in the game. My game feels like it was released in 2050, yet I haven’t played it in a few months.

In all situations, the GPU usage stays around 90-100% while the CPU remains between 40-60%. The game runs with full settings, including AA and arthroscopic filtering, at 1080p resolution.
