Consider switching to NMM if you haven’t tried it yet. You mentioned using 100+ mods with NMM before and found it mostly smooth, which is a good sign.

I employ both methods but don't suggest NMM instead of MO. Locate the icon for 4 puzzle pieces in MO at the top right (fifth one). The first choice in the dropdown will display your saved configurations.
