Last week I added the RealVision mod for Skyrim and it functions properly, but when loading it, frame rates drop to 2-15 FPS which is quite low. I mentioned this earlier and someone suggested my GPU was throttling performance. I fixed it by increasing fan speed in MSI Afterburner to 100% and the game ran smoothly at around 30°C. Still no improvement, so it seems overheating isn’t the issue. My system should handle it if I enable fans, but without them it won’t start properly.
It seems like your computer isn't working properly due to a driver problem or software interference with the GPU. You may need to reinstall your operating system, update drivers, or swap them to fix the issue, assuming you're using Windows 10.
Yes i have windows 10, infact i have just read there that there is a bug with Windows 10 that prevents the GPu from using over 2GB of RAM for games running on Direct X 9 or below which i assume skyrim runs on....fml
You're now aware of the problem, but unfortunately I can't assist with it because it's a design flaw in Windows 10. The instability and software conflicts make it unsuitable for use. I hope they address the issue, though it's unlikely.
Possibly, the list includes ELAFX (Enchance lighting and effects), Lockpick Pro Sounds for Skyrim, all of Flora Overhaul plus the ENB.
Skyrim runs on DirectX 9, but my experience was with a 1 GB GTX 460. The frame rate was around 30 frames per second even with an ENB mod, and 50-60 FPS without one. It seems limited memory—possibly just 2 GB or less—might be the main issue. Have you checked your Skyrim files? From the Steam library, right-click Skyrim → Properties → Local Files tab → Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Don’t forget to back up your mod folders first; I’m not sure it would impact anything.
