Skyrim ENB
Skyrim ENB
You're experiencing issues with ENB freezing your Skyrim despite having boost and memory patches. The memory logs show it isn't hitting its full capacity, suggesting the problem isn't memory-related. Running ENB v2.64 without a preset allows you to spawn 1000 guards smoothly, which indicates no freezing or crashes. You've removed other mods, reinstalled your Skyrim files, and deleted files manually, but still face this issue. It seems something specific with ENB is causing the problem. Anyone have any advice or solutions? Thanks for your help.
The issue revolves around whether you're setting it up correctly. Skyrim may still crash even without hitting the memory limit. The ENB could also clash with the ENB boost, though I’m not sure if I actually need or use it—this is uncertain. A memory patch might be involved too, since I saw complaints about crashes but noticed others using ENB boost successfully. I’ve installed ENB on a R9 280x with many graphics mods and haven’t had any problems. In fact, I installed it improperly once and the game still ran fine. This seems very unusual.
It looks like the preset might be causing the issue. I’ll recheck it, but it seems odd that the preset is triggering it. Updated: It’s still not working—followed the gophers’ steps, but freezing occurs when spawning 100 guards.
I encountered problems with my new PC while attempting to use ENB. The game would terminate after the Bethesda logo appeared each time I tried ENB. It turned out I needed to manually download and install the latest DirectX runtime. If this isn't your concern, you might try using ENB Manager and Changer to set up your ENB preset, though it's uncertain if that will resolve the issue.
EDIT: Why am I spawning 100 guards? Are you attempting to stress test the game for instability? Monitor your framerates with ENB off, on, and during guard spawns. It’s possible that handling that many NPCs while ENB is active is too taxing for the game or my system. If you're running a stress test, I recommend setting speedmult to 500, enabling god mode, turning off clipping, and running from Helgen>Whiterun Outskirts>Rorikstead>Dragon Bridge>Morthal. I suspect crashes are more likely when loading new content than encountering 100 NPCs at once.
I don't rely on ENB boost and my Skyrim operates well with around 150 mods. I use RealVision and make sure to install properly while setting the ini file correctly. It might be due to Ugrids or loading distance scenes causing crashes, or other ini properties that my system can't manage. My setup is quite similar to TW1STER.
Have you explored more authentic options, like 50 NPCs and then moving around to check for crashes or freezes? It seems the game struggles even at 600 NPCs, with the engine barely holding together on powerful hardware. I’m not sure why you’re testing this—are you running any mods that generate an excessive number of NPCs?
I saw gopher's stability video and noticed he created 300 NPCs at the harbor smoothly, without any crashes or freezes. Thought it could be an excellent stress test.
If the game runs smoothly without that huge number of NPCs, I wouldn’t be concerned. That clip was mainly about testing the memory patch. Real-world results will differ based on people, load settings, and hardware. Give me your stress test and check if it holds up. If it does, you should be fine with normal gameplay. Even with Civil War Overhaul, reaching 600 active NPCs in one area is unlikely.
