Today I made an update on my Skype using avast! and now scanning my PC with the avast! smart scan shows the router can be accessed online. This wasn’t the case before the update. On another PC with the same software, the issue didn’t appear. The avast! warning only appears when Skype is running on my computer. Skype version 7.3.0.101 seems to trigger this. Is this just a false alarm or could there be a security vulnerability in the new version? The attached Finnish text explains: “Problem: Your router is accessible via Internet. Risks: Hackers can connect, change settings, or cut off your connection. They might steal personal info.” Solution: Disable router’s internet access. The device says to go to its settings and confirms the page isn’t available. Should I be concerned?

Try removing Skype and observe if it disappears. That would help identify if it's the cause. As for concerns, I'm quite cautious about security myself, even though it's not perfect—it might be acceptable. You could enter your external IP into the address bar and check port 80. If you see your router interface... that could indicate an issue.

Just remove Avast, that’s enough. Microsoft Defender handles its tasks much better than many current free or paid antivirus programs. Plus, you don’t even need an actual virus if you avoid certain websites or downloads.

It might be due to Skype attempting to auto-forward ports (uPnP). Try navigating to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connection and disabling "Enable uPnP". Restart Skype afterward.

The reinstallation isn't succeeding. When entering your IP address, you receive a "page not found" error.

I also tried this, but it didn’t seem to help. Thanks for your advice! Do you have any alternatives? The most amusing thing is that I completely reinstalled Windows 7 and formatted the hard drives since I bought an SSD today. I downloaded everything again, and Avast still says it’s not there. It doesn’t show up on the other computers in our house.
