Hey there, I’ve been considering getting Project Cars or Assetto Corsa. After chatting with others, I’m curious about some points. I own a GT5 on PS3, and many people say it doesn’t feel very realistic. Yet I’ve seen lots of articles praising it as one of the most authentic driving sims. What makes a sim feel real? Is GT really up to par or more like an arcade game? Thanks for your thoughts!

GT feels authentic, though it doesn't match the realism of other titles that excel in physics.

Compared to Project Cars, this version feels more plausible. People say it's much closer to reality.

Most discussions center on physics, but Project Cars leans more toward racing than traditional car driving. There’s actual practice time, qualifying runs, and races lasting several laps. You’re often disqualified for hitting other vehicles.

The physics match up, yet the real-world feel of Project Cars is more authentic. As mentioned by the individual above, it differs from GT in that you don’t simply choose a car and drive off.

GT offers an excellent racing experience, though it falls short in simulation aspects. That’s why Assetto Corsa, iRacing, and similar titles excel here. These games manage the simulation more effectively than GT does. Still, discussions about which simulation is superior will likely continue, so testing each one can help you decide what suits you best. PCars leans more toward a simulation-arcade style, delivering realistic gameplay but with some puzzling mechanics and occasional glitches.

In short, Gran Turismo handles physics well, but the real racing feel could be better on PCcars. If you want a similar experience, switching to PCcars might be worth considering.

gt offers a solid sim experience, though it falls short of titles like assetto corsa or iracing. It's often hailed as "the ultimate driving simulator" for good reason. Regarding pcars... I'm still figuring out my impressions. The driving is decent enough to be fun, but there are some oddities—like a subtle disadvantage during races and the strange elements I mentioned earlier. It seems pcars aims for realism but isn't as intense as some of its competitors.

GT offers a believable feel from a physics standpoint for a console title, though it falls short compared to PC simulations. Project Cars stands out more when the FFB update is implemented, outperforming GT in many aspects. The car selection in Project Cars’ iOS version is quite limited, and its career progression is much more rigid than GT’s ever had. GT could feature a high-performance championship where players can achieve anything they desire as long as it delivers maximum power. On the other hand, PC will enforce stricter rules, allowing only one dominant car per model. Overall, Project Cars feels closer to a genuine racing experience, especially from a physics and realism perspective.

I think PC career mode is significantly better than ACs. If you don’t have a wheel, don’t jump into Assetto Corsa just yet—PC is at least available on consoles, making it more comfortable for controller use. Feel free to ask if you have any questions about either one; I’ve been playing both for a long time.
