Many tools have existed for years. smartctl (smartmontools) has been around since 2002, lsblk started in 2011. On Windows, you can use commands like ipconfig /all or programs such as WinRAR and Notepad++. Certain applications remain popular enough that users continue to rely on them over time.
I plan to stick with W11 for my modern systems (AM5). Today I performed a firmware upgrade on my 990Pro and started Magician, just pressing a button and restarting. In Linux it’s tough to determine if an update is needed, then install it and hope everything works. If you don’t own Samsung, you also lack strong Windows support, and Linux might not seem much different. But after using Samsung Magician, updating newer SSDs becomes difficult. These factors lead me to believe Linux works well on older hardware but isn’t worth the effort for newer ones.
