I discovered an old laptop in the basement. I needed a budget-friendly machine to experiment with but didn’t want to invest much. I thought I could simply factory reset it and then upgrade to Windows 10. All the YouTube tutorials seem to suggest using a USB drive or CD, which I don’t have. Can I just download the update myself?

Do you need to buy a license? Also, it looks like you can't jump directly from Vista to 10, but you must go through Vista → 7 → 10. It seems like the process is quite complicated and tiring.

Wow, that's interesting! It seems like I might need to spend around $300 for a basic model if I want one. I can't even picture the number of viruses considering Windows hasn't updated much in a long time. Plus, without a 7-key, it looks like I'd have to pay about $140 for Windows 10. Ugh, that's disappointing. I was hoping to use it for streaming services like Twitch or Netflix.

It sounds like a solid budget option. At $15, it’s reasonable. The 08hp still works fine, though it’s quite outdated. It does have NVIDIA graphics, which was decent back then. Just keep in mind it’s a long time since it was released.
