Hey everyone, I'm looking for advice on moving long Ethernet cables that need to be used often. We usually run a 100ft Cat6 cable to the router at gatherings, but it tends to get tangled even when we handle it carefully. Someone has any suggestions for keeping it neat and portable? I’m thinking about a retractable reel, but I can only find garden hose-style ones, and I don’t want to buy a brand-new pre-retractable setup. Any ideas?

Search for an aged CAT cable spool or better yet, inquire at an electrical fittings shop where electricians purchase supplies. They often carry vintage house wiring that could suit your project—simply unspool and rewrap it as needed, it should fit perfectly!

Have you attempted a braid? There's several ways to braid a cable, ends together with the "lock" at the middle point, or at the ends, or braids that have the ends independent. Here's a simple one:

The project turned out to be a good investment. My roommate shared some insights with his electrical engineering peers, and one suggested this link: https://www.premier1supplies.com/p/ezere...0qEALw_wcB. It seems promising and manageable to carry. Appreciate the support!
