Simple GPU-PV setup
Simple GPU-PV setup
I previously shared this on the Graphics Cards forum, but it seems better suited here. Apologies for posting here. Here’s a bit of context. Initially, I had an RX 7900 GRE working perfectly, running one VM and successfully using the Easy-GPU-PV tool to partition GPU resources. When I wanted more performance, I upgraded to a Ryzen 9 9950x, updated my motherboard and RAM. After restoring everything, the GPU failed to power on, and I tried various fixes without success. I also had an extra RX 570 chip installed, which now works fine. I took my PC to Microcenter for checks, and they determined the GPU was defective. Now I’m facing XFX warranty issues—hope you’re well! For now, I need to keep working, so I reinstalled the RX 570 and reconfigured the VM. In the VM, it appears to show the RX 570 under Device Manager, but Parsec reports software encoding issues, causing pixelation. I have a RX 5700 XT on my wife’s machine and am thinking about swapping it out to test. Before making any changes, I want to know if the problem lies with the GPU or if there’s a workaround with my current setup. Short summary: my RX 7900 GRE is dead, I’m using the RX 570, VM works via Easy-GPU-PV, Parsec says it’s using software encoding and shows pixels, and my wife has a working RX 5700 XT. Can I fix this with what I have?
AMD has provided solid driver support for the RX570, suggesting it’s likely not a driver-related problem. Have you used DDU before setting up the driver for this model? It’s worth trying. Also, did you reinstall Windows after the upgrade? It’s advisable to do so following such significant changes.
