PC will serve for home office tasks such as editing documents, checking email, browsing images and videos online, etc. I think it’s better to build something straightforward rather than buying a ready-made solution from stores like Best Buy. There isn’t a strict “budget” here because you can keep it simple and use the equipment you already own—case, monitor, mouse, keyboard. What I need assistance with: 1.- CPU options: AMD Athlon 300G 2-core or AMD Ryzen 3 3200G 4-core. There’s a possible price gap of around $40 between them. Both come with built-in graphics and don’t require a dedicated GPU for this setup. 2.- Power supply: Maybe an EVGA 450 BR or similar. 3.- Motherboard: I’m feeling uncertain about choosing one. Looking at other discussions on the forum, I’ve noticed models like Gigabyte B450 S2H, DS3H, Gaming X... but I’m not sure what to pick.
I'm purchasing the components from a local supplier, though used items are also available.
Budget needs a figure, but this project is demanding. An Optiplex with a 3770 at around $150 should cover it well. If you're starting fresh, an Athlon 3000G/220G setup will be sufficient.
Searching Amazon, Newegg, and Facebook Marketplace for updated options. Focusing on modern devices since older models aren’t available. Planning to invest up to $300 to ensure longevity. Preferring newer technology to keep the item in good condition.
If you're considering upgrading to a new Athlon 3000G with 8GB dual-channel RAM, it seems like the hardware specs are solid. The remaining components can be chosen based on your needs.
I understand, I'm just emphasizing how far back we're talking. A system from the 3rd or 4th generation Intel (around 8 to 6 years old) works well for this. A third or fourth generation Core i5 will remain capable for these tasks at least five years, and you can usually find affordable options.
hardware is generally stable for most parts, except when you apply excessive voltage. an optiplex paired with an ssd should suffice. pcpartpicker offers a comprehensive list with item details and pricing. the cpu model mentioned runs at 3.5 gHz and costs around fifty dollars. the motherboard and memory selections are priced accordingly. storage options include solid state drives and cases, all listed with current rates. total amounts reflect shipping, taxes, and discounts.
