I tried it too—it's still broken. The second mission had the AI built to ten times my size, but I couldn't make any progress in three hours. There were so many settlements, houses everywhere, and farms beyond what I could see on my screen. They could easily take me down a group of 40, but they would rebuild faster than I could destroy them. I returned it and received a refund.

I discovered my previous version of Sins of a Solar Empire, getting back into the game. Absolutely, it remains an enjoyable title and performs noticeably better compared to my older systems!

Completely off topic but Endless Sky is free and quite enjoyable, though it can feel a bit tough at first. Keep going and it becomes more enjoyable.
