I've been browsing Steam a lot and searching for a solid modern RTS similar to StarCraft or Dawn of War. I tried WarParty, it was okay but the AI had some problems. Any suggestions? It doesn't need to be super advanced, just something enjoyable to play. Thanks in advance.

Are you okay with games not being available on Steam?

I'll share more as they come to mind.

Absolutely, I'm all in for playing any way I can.
Those seem like classic fun times, thanks!

Haha, Dune 2000! OpenRA keeps improving with each release. It's not a perfect copy of the originals, but it addresses some issues and fixes problems. Purists may not like it, but it's better than the originals as they're working on improvements. They're also focusing on making Tiberian Sun and RA2 function properly, and there might be a play test Beta available now.

Speaking of Tiberian Sun, it's free now and still enjoyable. It tends to get buggy at high resolutions, but patches are being released. The OpenRA version tries to fix these problems by optimizing the game engine so it runs smoothly even at 4K resolution.

StarCraft and Dawn of War represent distinct categories within RTS, offering varied experiences.
For a StarCraft-like feel, consider Age of Empires, the Command & Conquer series, Homeworld, Rise of Nations, Star Wars: Empire at War, Ashes of the Singularity, Company of Heroes (1 or 2), Ground Control (1 or 2), Supreme Commander, and Wargame: European Escalation.
For a broader perspective, explore Sins of a Solar Empire (Real-time 4X), The Total War series, and World in Conflict.

Thank you all for the feedback and ideas, I've missed some of them over the years and many are new to me.

War Party appears appealing, yet unfortunately it hasn't taken off and now has very few participants.
