Started the day noticing strange problems with my PC. The biggest concern is that most games I’ve tried have poor edges and shimmering effects. Additional problems include faded colors and a 60hz lock in fullscreen apps, even though they worked at 144hz before. I didn’t change any settings recently and the drivers are up to date. Surprised because I haven’t seen anything like this before. Minecraft is a good example since it’s the easiest to spot odd rendering issues. Other games just show pixelated edges instead of the usual problems. The PC is only about a year old, but its GPU is a bit older from being used on an older machine. I’m sorry if this isn’t a simple solution, but it seems like something might be wrong with the system.

It seems there’s a graphics problem. Double-check that all your cables are firmly connected, and consider trying DDU before reinstalling your GPU drivers.

They're correct about inspecting all cables, removing the card, and reinstalling drivers to ensure it's not software-related. I'd also suggest blowing off the card to clear any metal shavings or dust that might be causing the issue. Consider testing with a known good GPU and resetting your clocks to factory settings if you're overclocking. Also, let me know how old the machine is and what its specifications are.

Everything was fine yet nothing happened. The GPU is a 1070 with 8GB, paired with an i5-9600k and 16GB RAM. It seems the graphics card is around 3 to 4 years old. It might be best to bring it to a repair shop for a check.

I’d look into your specific 1070 model and see if others are experiencing similar problems. If possible, test it on another system to rule out software issues. Also, examine the card for any burn marks—though that’s unlikely.

I encounter the same issues occasionally, my computer suddenly restarts everything—adjusting the refresh rate and resetting graphics settings. It would help to review your configurations; just in case you haven't already.

You might attempt connecting your display to the IGPU (video outputs on the motherboard)
