I experience unpredictable FPS fluctuations and can't identify the source. I believe a quad-core processor is required, but my system runs on a G3258 with low settings. Monitoring showed I wasn't consistently under heavy load, yet performance still dropped significantly. The dips appear random, occurring during intense moments or when alone in the game, not just during combat. I suspect network issues might be involved, though my connection seems stable and other games aren't affecting it. Any suggestions?

I'm not really monitoring RAM usage, but adjusting all settings to minimum or off definitely helps if that's what you're experiencing. Settings at high, medium, or low still show significant improvements.

You should likely review your RAM consumption. Mostly related to graphics, so it's unclear how much it impacts usage—since the engine must keep running and it's not very efficient.

Good free software for monitoring RAM usage? When I did my build I intended to expand up to 8GB soon after and haven't done it yet. Just got paid, maybe I'll pick up another 2x2GB set.

PS2 requires a lot of processing power, needing more than 4GB RAM on the 64-bit version. The VRAM isn't a big concern, but you should aim for at least 1GB.

RAM could be the problem, causing frequent hard faults during games that match the random frame rate drops. It seems to be using almost 90% of memory while playing. Sounds accurate. I think I’ll get another dual channel setup tonight.

It seems like you're hinting that because no one said no, the answer is probably yes... maybe?

I guess I’m a bit confused. While tweaking my CPU overclock, I reset the board to defaults and didn’t reinstall my RAM, which made it run at 1400 instead of the intended 1600. After fixing that and adding another 4GB (two 2GB modules), I feel like things are probably sorted.
