I recently set up a new gaming gig for CS:GO and encountered a major problem with a significant FPS drop during gameplay. It’s really frustrating! While playing, I notice the frame rate swings between 299 and 100 FPS, and I have no idea what might be causing it. I’ve performed basic checks—no dust on fans, correct installation, updated drivers, etc.—but the issue persists. My system specs are: CPU AMD FX8350 (4.0 GHz, 16 GB), MSI 970 Gaming motherboard, 8 GB DDR3 RAM at 1600 MHz, Zotac GTX960 4GB DDR5 GPU, and a VP 550 power supply. I’m aiming for a steady FPS of around 200-250 to improve my gameplay. Can you assist in resolving this FPS problem?

Performed some tests and checked for stable frame rates. Adjusted settings to lower levels to avoid dropping frames. It seems the map might be causing rendering issues, which could explain the problem. My GTX 960 handled this initially but now works better.

I've noticed the same issue on my GTX1070—drops to 100-150 during fights and mostly when moving through smoke. My friend has it too, so it probably isn't a major concern.

I’ve received advice from friends who play the same game. They suggested it might be an AMD processor issue, especially since CS:GO requires more cores. On the other hand, some mentioned overheating as a potential problem, and reapplying thermal paste could help. I’m considering swapping my CPU for an Intel i5-6500 or similar based on what fits my budget. After running a few tests, I’ve seen promising results. Thanks for your suggestions!
