Oof that's rough, sorry to hear that. It could be the PSU connectors have faulty pins, which might require a different power supply. The issue seems to involve limiters tripping due to insufficient power, causing a crash.
Did you verify your temperatures? After reinstalling Windows, it’s important to unplug any additional drives. Windows might behave unexpectedly on systems with multiple storage devices.
It seems this PSU had some issues before. The PC shop and I both touched it once during purchase, and once myself three years ago. Why would it fail suddenly? I also noticed the fan sometimes rattles, a problem that’s been ongoing for years—just put on headphones to ignore it. If nothing else works, maybe buying one now would be a cheaper option. It doesn’t appear to be a cooling or temperature issue. The case is air-cooled, and the GPU rarely exceeds 70°C. I think disconnecting the drives would be wise.
It seems you're familiar with the setup, so you likely won't need to reinstall everything. Games on a separate drive usually stay intact during reinstallation.
They should definitely be able to move them easily. You've handled it before successfully enough times.
Windows is being reinstalled without any issues so far. I’ll wait before declaring it fixed. Will check again in a few days. Updated: Noticed some black squares flashing on my secondary screen, which usually indicates VRAM problems. Also experienced brief blackouts followed by reconnects—possibly due to background updates that finished but didn’t clear. Since crashes seem resolved now, everything looks okay. Still think a fresh install is needed soon. The system has been running for about six years.
Great news! It's nice to hear everything is working now. I've experienced a few minor issues after installing a new driver a couple of times, but they usually resolve on their own—just some initial setup hiccups that disappear. If the system runs smoothly, upgrading isn't necessary. Still, I really enjoy building and shopping for PCs, so don't let that stop you!
I'm really sorry to hear that. That's precisely what I'd do first—before you head out to check if swapping some PSU cables for the included ones could make a difference.
