I'm having issues with the Windows activation, it won't connect to the internet. I can't install updates or downloads from the Windows Store. There seems to be a problem with your data deletion.

It varies based on the approach you use, but generally you're all set. Prepare your boot drive and restore using a genuine Windows ISO, without any loss since the unactivated option just restricts customization.

When you remove your current Windows install and download it once more, you might need to reinstall everything again. @SorryClaire

There is an option to keep your files during windows installation. But I never tried this option as I'm always freshly installing everything with winget. I would honestly invest the ~5$ for an "legit" key from a key-reseller. Works like one bought for >100$ and you shouldnt need to re-install windows. You should be able to just change the windows key.

Unless you've altered the operating system in a way that blocks product key swapping, you should be able to do it once you obtain a key. Press the Windows icon on the taskbar, select System, then choose Change Product Key or Upgrade your Windows edition, and finally select Change Product Key. I believe this should function correctly.
