I recently launched a Minecraft server on my PC and struggle to sleep due to fan noise. Is there a method to silence all fans—CPU, GPU, and system—without accessing BIOS? I attempted using M-Series Afterburner and Dragon Center, but even setting them to zero still causes minor spinning. I need a simple way to press a button at night for quiet operation.

Verify if your BIOS supports disabling fans. Both of my GB boards allow this, and other options don’t exist.

There are alternative methods available, but I highly advise against them. Even idling or worse, operating a Minecraft server without cooling would be extremely risky. Your computer could overheat and shut down, and continuous operation without shutdowns would significantly shorten its lifespan. Leaving the fans off isn’t a safe solution either—removing your side panel might improve airflow but would slow your fans excessively while still trying to cool the system. Personally, when I run Java servers in Minecraft, I prefer using a free platform like Aternos for customization. However, it may not be suitable for large-scale hosting as it supports only up to 20 players and runs entirely online. You simply need an Aternos account to get started.

I need fans to maintain proper temperature. Running without them causes excessive heat, possibly triggering throttling. If you have a powerful cooling solution, tools like FanControl might help—but realistically, you should upgrade your fans for quieter operation or simply power down the system at night.

Will I need to restart the system each time I want to stop the fans? This would force me to power down the server, which would be frustrating for the players.

When the server runs, it only consumes around 5% of your CPU, which suggests it shouldn’t overheat. You’re using quiet coolers, but they’re still too noisy. Fan Control helps adjust fan speeds, yet the fans don’t shut down even when set to 0%. You might need to tweak BIOS settings or check for other configurations that prevent full shutdown.

The server could consume just 5%, however, the standard Windows application typically uses about 10% of your CPU when not in use.

I attempted to disable the CPU fan via BIOS settings by modifying the smart fan curve, but the fan still doesn’t shut down fully even when set to 0%.

This feature lets users disable the fans completely, not just reduce their operation. Setting them to 0% ensures they remain off, especially when using voltage control settings.
