My family's pink iPod shuffle hasn't been used since 2008. I found it in good shape, got a decent charger, and it worked. The problem is my laptop thinks it's a hard drive, iTunes isn't responding. I downloaded an old version of iTunes from a strange site called oldversion.com to try to restore the iPod. For a brief moment, I showed red for charging because it seemed dead. Unfortunately, it returned to disk mode on other computers, and external sources still show green when it's dead. Just confirming that the iPod functions properly now.

It remained inside a container for seventeen years. Although it appears well-preserved, the battery might still be completely drained.

It functions properly, but the lights are flashing during charging. It seems stuck in disk mode, preventing any charge. No need for an old Windows version—just try again.

It’s stuck in disk mode because it can’t charge. That happens when the battery is empty or nearly empty. Seventeen years is way beyond what a battery should last. Swapping the battery is necessary, but replacing it is the only option. They intentionally stop recovery attempts when the battery fails. Right now it just powers on and acts like a USB drive. As an iPod it’s dead until a working battery is found. Keep it off until you change the battery—don’t use it if it swells; it’s essentially over.

I don't know of any specific shops in Dubai offering battery changes at a good price. You might want to check local electronics stores or contact service centers for reliable options.
