Showing up without clear cause and occasional pauses
System: Windows 10 Pro, fresh install, latest version. Hardware: CPU – AMD Ryzen 5 3600; GPU – AMD 6800XT (new); Motherboard – B450 AORUS ELITE; RAM – Viper Patriot (DDR4…Dual Channel…16GB…3733MHz) and Vengeance LPX (Corsair…DDR4…3200MHz…16GB); Storage – 4TB Crucial P3 Plus SSD (new), 2TB Samsung 870 EVO SSD; Power Supply – TX750M (750W). Upgrade completed. Issue: Mouse pauses briefly on movement, then resumes normally. No consistent delay. Viewing Steam or web apps causes freezing or crashes (Opera GX, Bannerlord). Some pages freeze during load. Blue screen appears after loading certain sites; screen freezes at 0%-2% with stuttering and mouse issues. After blue screen, icons shift or disappear. Scanning via Permon and system dump revealed files stuck in 0-2% loading. After scanning, PC restarted but took ~5-6 minutes. Temperature stayed below 70°C. Possibility: AMD drivers need reinstall? BIOS update not done recently. New NVMe SSD formatted GPT; MBR SSD may still be present. CSOM disabled. Recommendation: Run a clean install or check for driver updates. Monitor system behavior during startup and load intensive apps.
Run the machine with just a single RAM stick. Check stability in that setup. Test each stick separately. Address the four issues one at a time.
I addressed every issue, but once these began happening, a blue screen appeared—perhaps a sign to tackle the problems.
Provide the dump files as requested. If problems arise, check C:\Windows\Minidump for existing files. If found, move the entire Minidump folder to the Downloads folder on your desktop (or use OneDrive if available). Compress the copied folder and attach it to a post. Follow all instructions carefully—Windows doesn’t allow changes in this directory.
I own the dump files, though scanning with perfmon keeps running indefinitely. The guidelines suggest a 60-second duration, but I let it continue for 30 minutes without completion. I can forward the dump files now, but I’m unable to transmit the remaining required data.
I believe I located the issue—I think one of your RAM sticks wasn't fully seated.
