I understand this may seem unusual, but I'm working through it. You're attempting to install Lustre on a Raspberry Pi for research, which is more challenging than anticipated. The issue might be related to the Raspberry Pi-specific kernels. Have you encountered anyone else tackling this project? There might be useful suggestions or solutions available.
It doesn't appear feasible because Lustre only works with X64 systems and needs RHEL or SLES. While CentOS can be installed on a Pi 4, the X86-64 requirement remains unresolved (unless you modify the source for a port or attempt cross-compilation). Some users have successfully deployed Gluster on Raspberry Pi devices. The main challenge lies with the server's strict RHEL/SLES and X86-64 constraints. You might connect a Pi to an existing pool, but running it directly isn't possible.
