Assembling a PC from unused components presents unique challenges. The BIOS interface is largely nonfunctional due to frequent glitches and black displays. Reports indicate a GPU fault through the VGA indicator on the motherboard. Despite booting into Windows 10, no errors appear—no black screens or anomalies. Stress testing with OCCT also failed to trigger the problem. Updates to the BIOS were applied during startup/BIOS, yet the issue persisted before and after. The system performed well for months prior to the current failure. HWInfo shows GPU and VRAM temperatures at 30°C post-boot. My suspicion arose during a stress test where VRAM reached 20°C above the GPU core temperature after just three minutes. I haven’t disassembled the card, but it might be worth inspecting the thermal paste or pads.
This offers a beneficial upgrade by allowing you to reposition the GPU during the process—two advantages in one move. Remember that typical stress tests mainly target the 3D engine and its drivers, while BIOS runs the 2D engine with basic VGA support.
