Hi, I built this PC recently and faced difficulties aligning the motherboard and standoffs. There were also issues with the standoffs detaching when using the motherboard screws, which I eventually fixed. A few days later, I saw a piece of metal from the integrated I/O shield coming out from the back. When I tried to remount the motherboard, it was still visible. Could this indicate improper mounting or just a minor cosmetic problem?

what kind of metal is it?
just the upper part of the I/O plate looks like.
you should highlight it in an image editor to figure out what you're looking at.

And I notice what seems to be a plain black Cat 7 Ethernet cable. Not very suitable for Ethernet setups. Extremely unsuitable. Swap it for Cat 5e, UTP, AWG 22-24, full copper, round cable.

This is the part I'm refering to. It's completely flush on the bottom and sides, but the top part is visible. I was just asking for opinions on whether I've not installed it correctly or it's just something minor not to worry about.

It seems like there was a minor adjustment in the board and case cutout. Nothing to be concerned about.

Understood. Nevertheless, it is recommended to use a suitable, round Ethernet cable as suggested by others.
