Hello, your Razer Stealth 13 with the basic model works well for gaming, especially at higher settings. Running Cortex helps reduce lag, but it does involve some background tasks. It’s not harmful if you’re aware of what’s happening, and many users find it beneficial. Just ensure your system has enough resources to handle both the game and the background processes.

However, I question whether this device is anything beyond a humorous trick.

Running software that manages process priorities in Windows isn't harmful. Your system is built to operate efficiently for several years, with boosters handling only software and OS tasks. They control which processes run on which cores, which helps balance performance rather than overloading a few cores constantly.

I didn’t realize it was a problem. I’m just feeling a lot of concern because I’m not familiar with owning a laptop that costs over 200 dollars, and I want it to last a long time.

Gaming laptops lose value quickly. Overall GPU performance drops after three years. My best experience lasted seven years before it stopped being useful. Aiming for five solid years is a solid choice.
