Should I upgrade my PC or maintain my existing configuration?
Hi everyone!
I'm planning to upgrade my PC because most of the parts I have are quite old (except for my 4070). I've been considering the following changes:
- i5 12600kf
- MSI MAG Tomahawk Z790 Plus Wifi
- 32gb DDR5 T-Force Delta RGB RAM
- 1tb Crucial NVME SSD
Alone these upgrades would cost me at least $440 if I buy used parts. At the same time, I'm trying to save for a better daily driver. I could repurpose the old components in another machine and sell them, but I'm not sure how much value that would bring financially. I have around $3000 saved. The main reason for these upgrades is the performance limitation my 4070 puts on the rest of the system.
My current configuration looks like this:
- i5 10400f
- MSI MPG Z490 Gaming Plus
- 32gb DDR4 XLR8 RGB RAM
- RTX 4070 12GB DDR6X
- 1tb Crucial SATA SSD
- 500gb SP Hynix NVME SSD generation 3
- Corsair rm750x PSU
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
What's the age of your PSU in this build?
The only modification I'd suggest is swapping an i5 for an i7. Also, I'd consider a non-F SKU because an iGPU is essential for fixing display problems.
How are you keeping your processor cool? What's the case model? Do you have a link to the RAM kit you're examining?
The PSU is about 5 years old
The cooler I currently use is a cooler master hyper 212 black and the new one I'm looking at is similar, but has the proper bracket for LGA 1700.
My case is a NZXT h5 flow RGB
Here's a link to the ram I'm looking at:
