I just assembled my initial project with an ASUS B550M-A Wi-Fi, and the latest BIOS for 2006 is available. Should I upgrade it?

Although many current boards offer strong safeguards, a failure can still lock you out (the risk is extremely low). I’d avoid updating unless something problematic appears or if a new version introduces a helpful improvement such as a resizable interface.

Follow the standard guidance—avoid changes unless a BIOS update is necessary for the problem.

If you damage it, you can still remove the chip and reprogram it using an affordable bios programmer such as ch341a. I usually upgrade to the newest version unless it breaks my connection quality (which is why I stick with f4 instead of the current f9a on my ep45 ds4p).
