Consider playing Fallout 3 to understand its themes and story, or you could wait and try Fallout 4 instead.

New Vegas debuting initially. Consistent updates before version 3.

You probably won’t play any games before Fallout 4. If you’re keen on every detail, you might not be the right person, but they remain solid titles. Comparing them easily reveals plenty of information through a simple online search.

I was thinking about playing both (new Vegas and Fallout 3). I just wrapped up Fallout 3 and found it really great. I’m about to dive into Fallout: New Vegas now. In short, I’d highly suggest you try Fallout 3.

The narratives aren't connected at all. Both Fallout 3 and New Vegas are excellent titles, and I wholeheartedly suggest them. Right now I'm going through Fallout 3 just for fun with all the DLC content.

It doesn't really matter which game you start with. Just be sure to play both since each one is quite solid. I prefer the World in FO3 more because everything feels so messed up ^^

Someone unfamiliar with Fallout titles might wonder about New Vegas prior to 3.
