Should I overclock
Should I overclock
I'm just starting out with CPU/GPU overclocking and want to boost my i7 8700K to around 4.7 or 5 GHZ using an Antec A40 Pro Air cooler. Could you guide me through the process? I need advice on how much overclocking is safe for my CPU without shortening its lifespan. Also, what's the best temperature setting for my GPU (AMD Radeon RX 570 8GB) and what's the maximum it can reach? Thanks!
Max temperature is somewhat subjective. You're aware that increasing the heat reduces CPU longevity. Typically, you find the 60-70°C models, the 70-80°C ones, and those that go up to 90°C. I tend to aim for below 75°C, preferably under 70°C. It's a balance between temperature and lifespan, but since I use water cooling, your goals might be more achievable. I'd suggest targeting 75-80°C at most for long-term air cooling.
Max temperature is somewhat subjective. You're aware that increasing the heat reduces CPU longevity. Typically, you find the 60-70°C range suitable, followed by 70-80°C, with those who go up to 90°C being the exceptions. I favor keeping it below 75°C, ideally under 70°C. A balanced temperature and lifespan are important, but water cooling limits how high your temperatures can go. For long-term air cooling, I'd aim for 75-80°C at most.
