Should I Overclock?
Today my hydro H45 is arriving, and I plan to pair it with an FX 8320e on a MSI 970A-g43 Plus. As far as I understand, the CPU will run at around 15º idle and 35/40 full load (likely a bit higher), and I’d like to push it up to 50/55 full load. Should I base my overclocking on temperature readings? Is this motherboard suitable for overclocking? How should I approach the process—what voltage and frequency should I use per touch? To check if I’m reaching my goal, do I need to boot every time and stress the CPU for 5–10 minutes? I’m aware it might not drop as low as I thought.
The minimum temperatures will vary greatly based on the room's ambient temperature. It's recommended to use a reliable temperature monitoring system such as coretemp or cpu-z. The maximum CPU temperatures should stay below 85-90°C to ensure stability. Perform a stress test for 45-60 minutes.
