Should I buy Xcom 2 or Fallout 4?
Should I buy Xcom 2 or Fallout 4?
Before you start criticizing, let me share my thoughts. As a student on a budget, picking a game is crucial. I want something engaging that keeps me hooked and enjoyable. I’ve enjoyed playing Civilization 5 and had a great time. Though I’m new to the XCOM series and haven’t tried any Bethesda titles yet, I’ve played many RPGs and Bethesda games myself and really like them. Which one would you prefer?
I haven't had a chance to play Xcom 2 yet, but based on what I know, it might become quite repetitive after about 40-50 hours. Fallout 4, though, offers roughly 300 hours of content—covering one full run and three alternate endings—and with the GECK arriving soon, it could add even more time to enjoy later.
If you love Bethesda titles, consider Fallout 4 as a solid choice. Also watch out for XCOM 2 and its earlier installment, XCOM: Enemy Unknown plus the Enemy Within expansion. They’re highly recommended during sales since they’re truly unique.
I've already conquered Fallout four times, with a few more through the final run. It's a fun experience if your system can keep up. I've played XCom 2, but it doesn't really appeal to me. Check out the videos of both games and think about which one offers more enjoyment over time. My take is that Fallout is the better choice, though it's just my personal view.
I also noticed how the gameplay made me think about it after watching. Fallout 4 kept me engaged, though it didn’t push me to buy it right away. Xcom 2, on the other hand, really grabbed my attention because of its toughness—it was both frustrating and rewarding.
Fallout 4 is considered one of the worst games in the series, and I no longer have any interest in it. My enthusiasm faded after just a week. Regarding Xcom, I haven’t played it, so I can’t comment much on it. It doesn’t feel like an RPG since it removes most of the gameplay features.
XCOM 2 is my vote. I've been a Fallout gamer since Fallout 1, I greatly enjoyed Fallout 3 and New Vegas and I definitely played the shit out of 4... for a few weeks. Then I stopped. It's good, don't get me wrong, but once you realize that you're basically just The Terminator and the only thing that actually has character is the wasteland around you it gets... I don't know, boring? Eh I haven't been able to dive back in. It's a good rpg-lite combat game with a lot of things to see and do, just not a lot of real depth. Obviously I realize I could be the minority on this, but that's just how the game feels to me personally, take it as you will. XCOM 2 on the other hand is incredible. It's rare for a sequel to improve so much on an already great formula, but this one does. The sheer randomness is refreshing, no two playthroughs will go the same way. There's a great storyline with tons of content, and the game doesn't need mods to stay interesting, they're just available to augment your playstyle as they should be.
These are two completely different games. Both are solid choices. I’d pick Fallout 4.
1. I prefer games like this more.
2. Fallout 4 is a lot of content. It’s not as strong as Skyrim, but it’s still worth the investment.
Yes, the roleplaying in Fallout 4 is limited, but the gunplay is top-notch for its time.
If you’re after a more action-packed Bethesda experience, Fallout 4 offers plenty to enjoy.
