Should I buy a new cpu?
System details: CPU is Ryzen 5 2600x, main use includes competitive games (Valorant, CS:GO, Overwatch, etc.) plus VR titles like Boneworks and Beatsaber. I’m thinking about upgrading the processor and getting a 240Hz monitor since I’m close to 240fps but not quite there. I’m wondering if going for a 5600X or a 3600 would be better or if saving some money is more important.
I wouldn't upgrade right now. The 2600 isn't a weak CPU, but I'm not willing to pay above the MSRP.
You're facing performance restrictions in these games? Go for the most powerful CPU you can get, but unless you're mostly unconstrained, it might not be the best use of your resources.
For gaming, their 5000 series CPUs feature a single-core upgrade. This boosts performance significantly, and a single generation jump isn't that impressive. While it's still developing, I believe older motherboards might support the latest Ryzen CPUs with beta BIOS updates.
Transitioned to CPU designs, motherboard configurations, and memory systems.
Retrieve the 5600 resolution. It will stand out beside the 2600x. Make sure to update the BIOS followed by the drivers.
