Shorten cables for MSI MAG A750GL PSU?
I understand it might seem a bit strange, but I just assembled a PC using a Lian Li Dan A3 case and an m-ATX motherboard. The 24-pin motherboard cable should be very short—about 17cm in length when measured straight. Can I find a place with compatible cables or a method to check if the cables I purchase will work? Thank you ahead of time.
Reach out to your PSU manufacturer regarding the availability of shorter cables that are supported.
Thank you, but I didn't even think about reaching out to MSI directly.
Yes, sorry, I did. However, the cables I discovered were more costly than the PSU itself, and while I'd like my build to look good, it's not worth it financially.
Thank you, but I've recently checked the sfx-l units in the PSU tier list. In the UK, they're typically around 70 pounds more expensive. Since I already bought the power supply for 90 pounds, it doesn't seem fair to spend an extra 80% on shorter cables. On this note, I have decent soldering skills and some heat shrink wrap. Would it be safe to unplug the cables, cut them, and solder them together to make them shorter?
Most power supplies use inexpensive connectors and pins. The only expensive part is the crimp tool.
