Shortcuts not functioning
Shortcuts not functioning
My system runs Windows with a 120 GB SSD, downloads are configured for the hard drive, yet desktop shortcuts aren't functioning.
It seems you're wondering about the default location of the Downloads shortcut on your desktop. I believe Windows usually places it on the boot drive; if you've reorganized folders recently, the path might be incorrect. The easiest fix could be setting up a fresh Downloads shortcut on your Desktop and removing the outdated one.
Refuse to comment on whether I install Steam and try to use the shortcut on my desktop because the Windows version isn't running (it's installed on drive C).
Have you tried changing the shortcut’s target manually? Click the shortcut, choose "Properties," and update the "Target" with the correct steam.exe location on your drive (for example, D:\Games\Steam\steam.exe). Also, is this issue limited to your Steam shortcut or all shortcuts on your Desktop?
It seems like a pathing problem likely occurred after relocating files from the C drive to the D drive. Adjusting the target or path for each shortcut manually can help resolve the issue. Automated solutions are available; a simple search online may yield useful fixes, though I’m not familiar with third-party programs and won’t provide detailed steps.
