Short inquiry about M.2 heatsink and GPU retention pin design
Apologies to all mods, I'm in a hurry and feeling a bit anxious. If this isn't the right spot, please move this thread aside. I just dropped one of my MSI M.2 Heatsinks. I searched everywhere but plan to check again tomorrow morning. For now, I'm ignoring it and trying to boot. Right now, I'm still using my old SSD SATA and formatting the NVMe drive—it's currently empty. I want to install Windows in the M.2 slot and wonder how that will impact the temperature. The heatsink is securely fastened, just a single screw.
You're right about the retention pin—just a screenshot online, but I'm concerned it might affect my GPU's stability. So far it seems fine and secure, though. I had three screws holding my GPU at the back, hoping that's sufficient.
By the way, I'm using MSI Ventus 2x; it should help if it makes a difference. It's not heavy or bulky, just hoping everything is okay.
Didn't lose the screw, just forgot it was there—it came off when I removed the sticker. Note: Kingston NVME M.2 SSD Gen 4
Alright, everything seems okay now. The SSD works perfectly, and the clip breaking issue is resolved.
Yes, I can spot the missing screw on the right side. The left one is secure, and tightening it should work fine.
Sure, I understand. This SSD is designed solely for booting games, and since each game runs on a separate HDD, it seems fine to use it.
