I brought my computer to the repair shop to check why it wasn't posting, and they said it wouldn't post because the CPU was completely down. They adjusted it more and it worked again. Later, they informed me that my PSU was faulty and suggested it might have been damaged due to power being sent back to the supply, causing a short circuit. Am I being misled or is this a real issue?
I'm completely confused about this situation.
When I brought my PC in, everything seemed to be working properly—power supply was fine, fans were spinning with RGB, GPU had its RGB on, and the AIO screen was also functioning. So the power was working well. They then told me to push my CPU further and said the computer would respond, but one of the RAM sticks wasn't showing RGB. They installed Windows, but later said the power supply short-circuited and needed replacement. They asked me to replace the PSU and bring it here so that my warranty wouldn't be voided. I decided to take the whole computer back and get a new PSU instead. When I asked if they had any spare power supplies at a repair shop, they said they didn't have any 1000W ones, which made me think it was unusual. Then I inquired why they didn't install Windows and try to resolve the RAM problem using my built-in graphics and a lower wattage PSU, but they explained they couldn't test everything properly.

3 years ago I purchased a second-hand R9 380 4gb and required a PSU. I visited my nearby PC repair shop to buy a suitable PSU to pair with the card. It was a Chinese PSU priced around ten euros, which I paid thirty euros for as usual. They told me it worked fine, but the next day I received a call demanding I buy adapters, saying they wouldn’t function without them. It was a SATA to PCie 6+2 (8) pin connector—actually a fire hazard since the PSU lacked any PCIe connectors. Obviously, this was their strategy, forcing me to spend money on both the PSU and the adapters. But back to the discussion—can you share your PC specifications? Also, let me know about any current issues your system is facing.
They will say anything just to collect as much money as possible from you...
Well, according to them the computer has windows loaded on it, and it also posts according to them when there's a good power supply. I didn't test the PSU when I got IT back since I assumed it might have just gone bad and I don't want to risk a bad PSU damaging other components, so I'm just going to get it replaced with Corsair and then see if the computer works then. So as of right now, I'm without power supply but once I get them one in a couple of days, I'll be able to test it.
