GSync might be turned off while VSync remains active because they serve different purposes and can conflict depending on settings. Running GSync on all times and VSync off doesn't guarantee VSync stays enabled.
GSync operates separately from VSync. They represent distinct technologies.
VSync only guarantees that the frame rate stays below the monitor's maximum refresh rate, which causes GSync to cease functioning since it cannot align the monitor's refresh rate with rates exceeding this limit.
The GSync on my screen does nothing when VSync is turned off. I treat GSync as active regardless of its state. When I enable VSync, GSync activates (turns on).
