Hi there, I am Leighton, a Star Citizen phanatic. I am hoping to help out the community especially the new players. In the post I have information on all the ships that are currently available and are around a max of $200. All prices are in USD and the ships are ones that are available permanently. If a ship is not covered in here, feel free to ask below about the ship and I will help you. I am sure some other will help out too. A common question is: Is (Ship name) a good starting ship. The answer to that is: It depends on what your focus is, Star Citizen has specialized ships that are focused on specific tasks, so before you ask look around a bit and think about what you want your role to be in the 'verse. Keep in mind, you will always be able to change ships. This post took a long time so if this helped you please leave a like! Notes: (Feel free to PM me some information on some ships and I can add it) PLEASE pm me if some stuff changes so we can help people out. To make it easier to read the information of the ship series is spoilered. Key: AC = Arena Commander (A $5 addon that lets you try out your ships. It is included in two packages) SC = Star Citizen Pack = Game Package (One is required to play the game) Only Ship = Does not include a package so you need a package too. RSI Aurora Series: (From Pack = $30 Only ship = $20) - Recommended Starter Series ES (Pack = $35 Only ship = $20): Use: Exploration/Starter Specs: Length: 18.5 m Beam: 8.25 m Height: 4.10 m Mass: 7550 Kg Cargo: 13 Crew: 1 Power plant: 1 KS-9 Engine: 1x STC Blue Guns: Fixed: 2x S2 - 2x 9-series Longsword Overview: It does not really have any noticeable differences to the MR other than the fact that the MR does not have the exploration stuff and this has less fire power. Handles the same and looks pretty much the same. This is a starter ship when the game is fully released. TL;DR: Not many differences to the MR other than less fire power and extra exploration stuff. It looks largely the same and handles the same as well. MR (Pack = $30 Pack Plus = $40 Pack AC Starter = $45 Only Ship = $25): Use: Interdiction Specs: Length: 18.5 m Beam: 8.25 m Height: 4.10 m Mass: 7550 Kg Cargo: 13 Crew: 1 Power plant: 1 KS-9 Enhanced Engine: 1x STC Red Guns: Fixed: 2x S2 - 2x M3A Laser Cannon Overview: This ship was my first ship. It is a great start and it has some pretty nice upsides. It has a pretty nice interior and exterior. It doesn't pack a large amount of firepower but it does the job. It is a Interdiction focused ship. In terms of size it is 19 meters long and 7,550 Kg making it a nice and easy ship to learn on. It can only have 1 person on board. If you are looking for a more militaristic ship the LN variant is better for you. TL;DR: It is a good ship overall, with a decent size and can defend itself but it does have its limitations. LN (Pack = $45 Only ship = $35): Use: Milita/Patrol Specs: Length: 18.5 m Beam: 8.25 m Height: 4.10 m Mass: 7550 Kg Cargo: 13 Crew: 1 Power plant: LR-5 MAX Over Drive Engine: 1x Vooshkod Energina IV Guns: Gimbal: 2x S2 - 2x CF-007 Bulldog Pylon: 1x S2 - 4x ASIM-09/c Marksman II Overview: I kept this ship for probably longer than any of my other ships (Although that was due to me not being able to afford to upgrade). It has a very pretty colour scheme and it has a very big fire power. It is about the same in terms of interior and stuff like that to the MR and ES but it makes up for it in other areas. This is probably my favorite Aurora. TL;DR: Nice overall, not very different interior to the previous two but it packs a much larger fire power. CL (Pack = $60 Only ship = $45): Use: Mercantile Specs: Length: 18.5 m Beam: 8.25 m Height: 4.10 m Mass: 7560 Kg Cargo: 23 Crew: 1 Power plant: Endurance 300 Engine: 1x P/S2-80 Guns: Gimbal: 2x S2 - 2x CF-007 Bulldog Pylon: 1x S2 - 4x ASIM-09/c Marksman II Overview: I don't really know about this ship. I guess it really depends on how you are going to be going into this game. It is slow, pretty bad at maneuvering but it does include some features for long distance like a endurance power plant. It has a larger cargo bay than all other Auroras but it is still not very nice in my opinion. When the Reliant is fully out I don't see much use for this. Bonuses to this is it is a single crew ship and has a bed but it is significantly smaller than the reliant. That can be a good or a bad thing. In my opinion it is not the best you can get for your money but it depends on what you want. If you like the overall look of the Aurora then it is a good ship for you. The paint job is funky and it looks a little bit nicer on the inside. At the end of the day it is down to you. If the things I have said appeal to you then great. TL;DR: It has a increased cargo space at the sacrifice of speed. I think there are better options out there but at the end of the day it is down to you. Consolated Outland Mustang Series: (From Pack = $45 Only Ship = $30) - Recommended Starter Series Alpha (Pack AC Starter = $45 Only Ship = $30): Use: Starter (Couldn't find anything else) Specs: Length: 18 m Beam: 13 m Height: 5.5 m Mass: 13,500 Kg Cargo: 10 Crew: 1 Power plant: Endurance-600 Engine: 2x Magma Jet Guns: Unmanned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x M3A Laser Cannon Overview: To be honest, I don't like it. It does not have anything special and is quite ugly. I understand that it is “budget friendly” and that is definitely a main reason people will buy it. It has a jump drive if that is important to you but the others can have that added on. The inside consists of a cockpit. The outside is grey and boring. I found it amusing how this is technically worth more than an aurora but is less advanced. It can reach higher speeds though. TL;DR: I don't really recommend this ship. I would just pay the extra to get a Beta. Bland and only has a jump drive to stand out from the rest. Beta (Pack = $55 Only Ship = $40): Use: Touring/Exploration Specs: Length: 18 m Beam: 13 m Height: 5.5 m Mass: 17,000 Kg Cargo: 10 Crew: 1 Power plant: Endurance-600 Engine: 2x Magma Jet Guns: Unmanned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x M3A Laser Cannon Overview: My favorite of the Mustang Series and I think it will be a part of my collection when the game goes live. It lacks the jump drive of the Alpha but that can easily be added and has nothing specs wise that stands out (My guess is some exploration stuff will be added) but when you take a look in the inside of it, that is where it really stands out. It is amazing what they have done with such a small ship really. It sports a nice colour scheme (Inside and out). Overall I would go with this over a Alpha TL;DR: Looks really nice but does does lack the jump drive of the Alpha. My favorite Mustang, and I think that interior will be useful in the full game. Gamma (Pack = $70 Only Ship = $55): Use: Racing Specs: Length: 18 m Beam: 13 m Height: 5.5 m Mass: 13,500 Kg Cargo: 10 Crew: 1 Power plant: Endurance-600 Engine: 2x Magma Jet Guns: Unmanned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x M3A Laser Cannon Overview: This ship is good for racing and that is about it. It is ONLY a cockpit and more so than the Alpha. It goes considerably faster than all the other mustangs and its acceleration is fast (2.5ish sec for 270mps). Helping it achieve that speed is its tiny 13,000 Kg weight. Paint scheme is cool, it looks like a racing ship. It has sponsors on it and has the number. Some people might like it but it is not my cup of tea. Overall it is basic and for racing ONLY. Maybe it could be used for fast small trips but that is it. TL;DR: Its really fast but really basic. Good if you want to race but not for much else. Origin Jumpworks 300 Series: (From Pack = $65 Only Ship = $55) - Recommended Starter Series 300I (Pack = $65 Only Ship = $55): Use: Touring Specs: Length: 24 m Beam: 26 m Height: 6 m Mass: 20,085 Kg Cargo: 4 Crew: 1 Power plant: StarHeart III Engine: 1x HE 5.2 Guns: Fixed: 2x S2 - 2x Omnisky VI Laser Overview: This is a basic ship, all the 300 series basicly have the same interior. This is basically a less weaponized 325a, it has a different power plant which I would assume to be more efficient on fuel as it is for touring. It goes 20 mps slower than a 325a. Other than the fact that it has a much smaller cargo space it feels like in my opinion a very good starter ship. Inside it does include a bed like in all other ones. The stock paint job is alright, basic but does the job. I would probably skin it though. Overall it is pretty cool, but does lack a few features. TL;DR: Basic both inside and out. It is almost the same as a 325a but has less guns. I like it as a starter but does lack cargo. A nice ship overall and is pretty budget friendly. 315P (Pack = $75 Only Ship = $65): Use: Exploration Specs: Length: 24 m Beam: 26 m Height: 6 m Mass: 20,085 Kg Cargo: 6 Crew: 1 Power plant: K3S-9 Engine: 1x Explorer Jump Engine Guns: Fixed: 2x S2 - 2x Omnisky VI Laser Gimbal: 1x S2 - Sure Grip Tractor Overview: Again, this is mostly the same as the others in the series, the same top speed and meets in the middle for weapons. This one sports a jump engine which is good for exploration and has more cargo that both of the other models. Like all 300 series ships, the outside looks really nice too! The interior is the same again. I would love to see this changed later on! I like it, but the 300 series just seems to not have much difference between all the models. If you like exploration that jump engine will come in handy for you. TL;DR: Almost the same as the others, with a middle amount of guns and a jump engine. I can see this being good for its use but it still does not really stand out. 325A (Pack = $80 Only Ship = $70): Use: Interdiction Specs: Length: 24 m Beam: 26 m Height: 6 m Mass: 20,085 Kg Cargo: 4 Crew: 1 Power plant: VHR2 Plus Engine: 1x HE 5.2 Guns: Fixed: 2x S2 - 2x Omnisky VI Laser Gimbal: 1x S2 - Sledge II Overview: In my opinion this is the most pretty ship in the game. It sports a truly amazing stock paint job and will be in my hangar when the game launches. It is fast and has some pretty nice weapons too. It has a custom targeting system that can only be found in the 325a too. Over anything it just looks really nice and that is nice enough for me. It does have other features too though. TL;DR: Looks really nice and has a lot of firepower. It is fast too. My favorite ship in the game. Aegis Dynamics Avenger: (Pack = $75 Only Ship = $60) Stock (Pack = $75 Only Ship = $60): Use: Interceptor/Interdiction Specs: Length: 19 m Beam: 14.25 m Height: 5.4 m Mass: 13,400 Kg Cargo: 12 Crew: 1 Power plant: Powerfountain 2+ Engine: 1x HE 2.4 Guns: Fixed: 2x S2 - 2x Suckerpunch disortion cannon Gimbal: 1x S3 - Tigerstreik T-21 Pylon: 2x S3 - 4x Stalker IR Overview: This ship really interests me. It has what looks to be cells in the back that my guess would mean that it could be very useful for bounty hunters. It carries some powerful weapons too which would be necessary if you were carrying a wanted organisation leader for example. I am not sure if it is quite enough to defend itself against an organisation following you when you take there member. It has a bed and can go a decent speed. It has 3 compartments to the interior and looks like it would be very secure whilst you are moving the prisoners. Overall a pretty interesting ship and I feel like it is worth having in you inventory. TL;DR: Features what appears to be cells in the back and carries a lot of weapons. It is pretty responsive and easy to fly too, reaches a reasonable speed. Aegis Dynamics Gladius: (Pack = $105 Only Ship = $90) Stock (Pack = $105 Only Ship = $90): Use: Short Range Patrol Fighter Specs: Length: 20 m Beam: 16 m Height: 5 m Mass: 16,000 Kg Cargo: 0 Crew: 1 Power plant: K-5b Starwalk Engine: 2x HE 5.2 Guns: Fixed:2x S2 - 2x CF-007 Bulldog Gimbal: 1x S1 - Scorpion GT-215 Gatling Pylon: 2x S2 - 8x ASIM-5/c Ignite II Overview: It definitely is made for its use. I cant see any other use for it. It goes 240 mps and accelerates really fast at the same time. No cargo is a main factor that means it can't really do much else. It looks REALLY nice… It looks almost like a current day fighter on the inside and the ladder looks awesome as it folds out. I was expecting it to go fasting with the two engines but it doesn't really bother me as the fire power makes it worth it. I really like this ship! I don't see much of a use for it personally but it will be useful for some others. TL;DR: Great firepower, looks awesome and goes a decent speed. It does lack some things but the firepower makes up for it. Drake Interplanetary Cutlass: (From Pack = $115 Only Ship = $100) Black (Pack = $115 Only Ship = $100): Use: Milita/Patrol Specs: Length: 29 m Beam: 25 m Height: 7 m Mass: 33,000 Kg Cargo: 33 Crew: 3 Power plant: D/Tech Soniclite A1220 Engine: 2x Voshkod Silent IV Advanced Guns: Fixed: 2x S3 - 2x Suckerpunch distortion cannon Gimbal: 1x S3 - CF-177 Badger Manned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x NN-13 Neutron Gun Overview: Considering how many people dislike the cutlass I was surprised that I liked it. Sure it is a "whale" but that is not always a bad thing. Considering how much cargo it takes for and the fact that it has a lot of weapons will appeal to some. It is not the fastest ship by any means with a surprisingly low top speed on 180 mps. It surprised me because its engines are quite large. It maneuvers well considering its size but that could be due to the small thrusters that are from what I could see largely in charge of maneuvering. Not to mention, the fact that the package comes with access to all hangars which was surprising considering its prices. Overall I am a bit in the middle with this ship. It is a "whale" like @ rentaspoon calls it but it also carries a considerable amount of cargo whilst having plenty of guns to defend itself. TL;DR: Good ship overall due to its firepower and decent cargo hold but it does put off some people as it is quite large. Red (Pack = $135 Only Ship = $120): Use: Search and Rescue Specs: Length: 29 m Beam: 25 m Height: 7 m Mass: 36,000 Kg Cargo: 33 Crew: 4 Power plant: LR-7 MAX OverDrive Engine: 2x HE 4.4 Guns: Fixed: 2x S3 - 2x Suckerpunch distortion cannon Overview: Coming Soon TL;DR: Coming Soon Anvil Aerospace Hornet: (From Pack = $125 Only ship = $110) F7C (Pack = $125 Only ship = $110): Use: Civilian Close Support Specs: Length: 22.5 m Beam: 21.75 m Height: 5.3 m Mass: 21,948.88 Kg Cargo: 13 Crew: 1 Power plant: Powerbult Engine: 1x HM 4.3 Guns: Gimbal: 1x S4 - 2x CF-177 Badger Pylon: 2x S1 - 8x Dominator FF Overview: Coming Soon TL;DR: Coming Soon F7C-S (Pack = $140 Only ship = $125): Use: Infiltration Specs: Length: 22.5 m Beam: 21.75 m Height: 5.6 m Mass: 22,370.66 Kg Cargo: 0 Crew: 1 Power plant: Light Blossom 6HE8A Engine: 1x ArcLight 300 Guns: Gimbal: 1x S4 - 2x CF-177 Badger Pylon: 2x S1 - 8x Marksman HS Overview: Coming Soon TL;DR: Coming Soon F7C-R (Pack = $155 Only ship = $140): Use: Scout/Command and Control Specs: Length: 22.5 m Beam: 21.75 m Height: 5.6 m Mass: 22,370.66 Kg Cargo: 0 Crew: 1 Power plant: Powerbult Engine: 1x HM 4.3 Guns: Gimbal: 1x S4 - 2x CF-177 Badger Overview: Coming Soon TL;DR: Coming Soon MISC Freelancer: (From Pack = $125 Only Ship = $110) (Picture of a DUR) STOCK (Pack = $125 Only Ship = $110): Use: Mercantile Specs: Length: 32 m Beam: 15 m Height: 8 m Mass: 26,000 Kg Cargo: 52 Crew: 2 Power plant: Tonnerre-00 Engine: 2x Arc Duo 400 Guns: Pylon: 2x S3 - 6x ASIM-09/c Marksmen III and x2 S2 - 6x Executioner II Unmanned Turret: 2x S2 - 2x FL33 Manned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x V82-FL Overview: I really like this ship! The overall aesthetics of it with the stainless steel really makes it stand out! It gives a industrial look which I quite like. Sadly it is not yet ready to fly but I can comment on the interior. It is not very clean but I think it gives a nice image. It gives a decent living space with 4 beds, a shower/toilet combo and a kitchenette. It is by no means luxury. It gives a bit of a dirty look but it is not a ship for cruising in. It has quite a few weapons, more that any of the other ones but one does require a dedicated gunner which can be a downside for some people. It does come with a basic Leaper Jump Engine too. Overall a pretty nice ship that I think is a good bridge between massive ships and small ships. TL;DR: Looks pretty nice and is well armored. It has a pretty nice crew area that means it should be alright for long flights. Overall a pretty nice ship. DUR (Pack = $140 Only Ship = $125): Use: Exploration Specs: Length: 34 m Beam: 15 m Height: 8 m Mass: 28,000 Kg Cargo: 52 Crew: 2 Power plant: Tonnerre-00 Engine: 2x Arc Duo 400 Guns: Pylon: x2 S3 - 6x Executioner II Unmanned Turret: 2x S5 - 4x FL33 Overview: Coming Soon TL;DR: Coming Soon MAX (Pack = $155 Only Ship = $140): Use: Transport Specs: Length: 32 m Beam: 19 m Height: 8 m Mass: 32,000 Kg Cargo: 123 Crew: 2 Power plant: Tonnerre-00 Engine: 4x Arc Elite 400 Guns: Unmanned Turret: 2x S4 - 2x FL33 Manned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x V82-FL Overview: Coming Soon TL;DR: Coming Soon RSI Constellation: (From Pack = $200 Only Ship = $150) Taurus (Pack = $200 Only Ship = $150): Use: Transport Specs: Length: 58.8 m Beam: 26.6 m Height: 13.4 m Mass: 80,000 Kg Cargo: 134 Crew: 4 Power plant: Endurance-6600 Engine: 4x E/S4-290 Guns: Fixed: 2x S3 - 2x Suckerpunch distortion cannon Gimbal: 1x S3 - CF-177 Badger Manned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x NN-13 Neutron Gun Overview: This is my current ship... Sadly at a rather high price point, but I feel like you get good value for your money. It may not look like it at the start due to it not having all the extras that start being included in the ship that costs an extra $75 (Buggy and Scout Ships) you still get a good increase compared to the likes of the Freelancer series... It is pretty well armored but keep in mind it does need more crew than a the likes of a freelancer. This is the true entry level to high crew ships. Overall, it makes some people disappointed that it does not get all the extras that are included in the more expensive constellation but for $75 less than the next version it is a good deal! TL;DR: Good ship overall, and good value for money. A major downside is the extra crew needed for the ship but we will see how much of a big deal this is when the PU comes out . Doesnt come with the extra ship and rover found in the higher models but still good value. Andromeda (Pack = $275 Only Ship = $225): Use: Multi-Function Specs: Length: 61.1 m Beam: 26.6 m Height: 13.4 m Mass: 80,530 Kg Cargo: 243 Crew: 5 Power plant: HF-R2 Plus Engine: 4x HE 5.5 Guns: Fixed: 2x S3 - 2x Suckerpunch distortion cannon Gimbal: 1x S3 - CF-177 Badger Manned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x NN-13 Neutron Gun Overview: Coming Soon TL;DR: Coming Soon Aquila (Pack = $325 Only Ship = $275): Use: Exploration Specs: Length: 60.1 m Beam: 26.6 m Height: 13.3 m Mass: 80,550 Kg Cargo: 134 Crew: 4 Power plant: Etoile 55 Engine: 4x Arc Elite 500 Guns: Fixed: 2x S3 - 2x Suckerpunch distortion cannon Gimbal: 1x S3 - CF-177 Badger Manned Turret: 1x S1 - 2x NN-13 Neutron Gun Overview: Coming Soon TL;DR: Coming Soon - Pictures were in here but the forum didn't support them but they should be up in the next day or two. Let me clarify—I got a bit confused earlier. After re-reading, I think I misinterpreted the post. It seems I misunderstood it more than once before. Let me make sure I get it right now.

I was ready to go overboard. I didn’t invest a week or $80 on a post that breaks the rules...

It seems the details about the Constellation weapons weren’t updated after copying from the Cutlass TBH. A better approach would be to check the specifications on the RSIs website for a direct comparison. I appreciate your summary and the effort you put in.
