She's having trouble accessing her HP laptop because the system keeps rejecting the password. She's already tested various passwords and double-checked details like case sensitivity. Is there a possibility she needs to reset the password or use another method to log in?

That's a very insightful point. It seems she could potentially get her computer back up again. A reinstall might be an option, but I haven't found any factory reset settings in the BIOS yet.

You cannot reinstall the operating system through the BIOS; you must either recall the password or perform a hard drive format.

You need to prepare your drive for reformatting by backing up important data, then use a tool like Disk Management or a disk formatter to change its file system.

There are methods to alter Windows login credentials that could help restore access, though I haven’t tried any before and can’t give guidance on using them.

Consider using a USB drive to boot Windows 8 and perform a clean installation if needed.

You have a quick way to access the Windows recovery options during startup. I’m not sure how to recall it, but if you share more details, I can help you locate it. If you’re okay with losing some data, I’ll try to assist you.

Power on the computer and press Shift during the restart from the login screen. Maintain Shift until Startup Repair appears. It should suggest options like Advanced options->Refresh/Reset PC-> Reinstall Windows. A regular user likely can't do this safely. If you're nearby, that would be the safest approach to avoid damaging the system.
