Sharing my journey with G2A.
G2A functions as a trading hub rather than a platform for purchasing games like Steam.
I understand, I know, but coming from an HS background where I barely earn minimum wage, I decided to take the chance to save $25. From my previous encounters with G2A and PayPal, I believed the risk wasn't that high since it was straight through G2A and PayPal—not a marketplace seller.
I've relied on G2A, Kinguin and similar platforms for years. No issues encountered. -Purchase from trusted sellers on the site -Pay using PayPal so you can request a refund if your key isn't delivered. It's extremely reliable, significantly outperforms Steam and regular prices each time.
The transaction involved both parties, with the purchase being restricted to PayPal.
It's frustrating learning this the hard way, but quality follows price. Many G2A and similar sites operate illegally, selling keys through stolen credit card information. A recent case showed an indie developer suing G2A for fraudulently selling game keys, losing $150k. On the positive side, you now understand the risks. Physical marketplaces also need scrutiny—be wary of deals that seem too good to be true and ask about any hidden terms.
I recall pre-ordering Need for Speed 2015 on GreenMangaming once, but when the game launched everyone faced problems getting keys. It seems GMG struggled to obtain usable copies, causing delays for many. Fortunately, I reached out to them to request a refund, and they handled it promptly. Regarding G2A, I’ve purchased a few titles from there, which generally worked well. All transactions were made via PayPal. Recently, they’ve started enrolling users in their G2A shield program without clear reason, making it inconvenient to cancel if you rely on PayPal.
It's true what they say—things can go wrong. I know it happened, but it should have been prevented. I really hope they could have been more helpful. I’m considering waiting a few days for the game or a few weeks for my refund. YAY :{
I'm confident in g2a and have played more than 100 games purchased from there, except for the far cry 4 experience. I wouldn't place a pre-order with them. I'd stick to using cdkeys instead.
I've never purchased from G2A, but I nearly did when my son wanted Far Cry 4 (as a new release). I closed the tab and bought from Ubisoft when they offered me the chance to read about G2A Shield. What a mess of nonsense. A seller shouldn't add extra fees just to ensure customers get their money's worth.
