You're experiencing difficulties with file sharing over Wi-Fi between your wired desktop and wireless laptop. The problem appears to stem from the router, possibly due to network configuration or DHCP settings. In the past, similar issues occurred when connecting Xbox 360 devices, suggesting a potential instability in wireless connections. Consider checking router settings, ensuring proper IP assignments, and verifying that both devices are using compatible network protocols.

You access the network through a physical connection and navigate to the specified IP address.

I just played around this morning and shared my laptop's desktop file. My desktop computer now appears on my laptop, letting me access shared files from my laptop. I also checked my desktop to see if the shared files showed up there… and they did! Including unrelated shared items. It seems something might have malfunctioned or an update caused the issue. When I re-shared the laptop's desktop file, everything worked perfectly again. Weird, but it functions!
