Due to YouTube's compression, videos are processed with specific codecs and bitrates. Could you clarify the encoding details—what codec and bitrate are being used? Also share the resolution of your capture settings?

YouTube doesn't apply your bitrates directly; it converts them into their typical 3-4Mbps standard.

YouTube spends some time handling the video, but they reduce its size more. After a few hours, it should return to its original quality.

The file was not uploaded at 1080p; it appears to be displayed as 720p, which is acceptable.

I'm working with the H.264 codec...I captured footage using Frapper, inserted a marker at the beginning of the video, and converted it to H.264 before uploading.

It was saved in 720p only... yet the identical 720p file stored on my hard drive contains more information than what appears on YouTube.

The bitrate directly affects the video's actual quality. YouTube will automatically compress every uploaded video to 3Mbps for 720p and 4Mbps for 1080p. Even with a 20Mbps upload, YouTube will still reduce its quality. The issue arises when you lower the bitrate to save upload time—re-encoding the video only adds more compression noise to that already weaker source. That's why it's still better to upload higher quality clips so YouTube can preserve more of the original quality.

For better quality options, consider alternative services.

I'm also playing Crysis 3 (part of the SiTH clan). If you're using Vegas to edit, make sure smart resampling is turned off. I export my C3 Clips in uncompressed AVI format, then import them into AE to add effects and fine-tune everything. Finally, I render them in Quick Time with H.264 and ACC for audio, achieving good quality at 720p. My bit rate is set to 50 Mbps at 60 frames. Let me know if this helps! A video of mine. Used a similar encoding method as described. Recorded with Action!
