I believe I'm improving in this editing area. A few weeks ago I had no idea how to use it, but now I understand how it functions.

You can capture ongoing sessions manually, though videos are stored in segments of about 3.8GB. This is due to constraints in Shadowplay/Win 7. Recording several hours might result in many such files.

You'll need to verify that information. I haven't accessed 8.1 or conducted any research on it.

It relates to the constraints of the M$ Mp4 muxer in Windows 7, not Shadowplay directly. Windows 8's Mp4 muxer doesn't face this size restriction.

You can eliminate the eye-cancer start menu feature and install a tailored, improved start menu quickly. It offers enhanced performance and supports DirectX 14 or the newest version. While I don’t endorse Micro$oft’s choices about Windows 8, they can be easily bypassed—it’s definitely worth it.

I've used Windows 8 on a laptop and it didn't impress me. The solid color theme gave it a dated feel, reminiscent of the 80s with its lack of depth. I prefer Windows 7 for its smooth performance and features like the aero effect, transparency, and easier settings management. There was also an issue with YouTube in full screen on Windows 8—being blocked made me frustrated until someone explained I needed to install a specific app. That experience really didn't go well.
