I’m experiencing significant stuttering and frame rate inconsistencies in games like Overwatch, League of Legends, Anthem, and Doom, despite my Radeon overlay reporting framerates between 60-70 FPS. My XFX Vega 56 is consistently showing a much lower perceived frame rate, sometimes dropping to 20 FPS. This occurs even with Vsync enabled, which artificially raises the refresh rate up to 90-130Hz on my Samsung 6 Series Smart TV (which natively displays at 60Hz). The overlay reads around 60-70fps but the game looks choppy and unresponsive. I recently built a PC and this is the second system I've used. My specs are: CPU - R5 2600 with stock cooler, GPU - XFX Vega 56, motherboard – B450 Tomahawk, RAM – 8GB Ballistix Sport 3200, storage – HDD, and a Samsung 6 Series 4K Smart TV. I'm fairly new to PC gaming and trying to optimize my setup for better performance.

You may want to use that Trumotion garbage as it should make the gaming appear a bit smoother. There also should be a gaming option (Game mode) in the TV settings that should be enabled. I would try these with vsync enabled and off and see which one works better.
Also check memory usage, 8gb is a bit low nowadays.

Yeah its approaching 7gbs of use in anthem. Though, in overwatch and doom it's quite stable. That's what makes it garbage I cant use it in game mode which is what I'm using. And thanks! Though I feel like I'm among the few that use a tv for pc gaming haha.

When I had a 1080 ti I used for 4K for gaming every once in awhile but ended up dumping it as I had some issues similar to yours. Went 1080P ultra wide with Freesync and haven't looked back. Still have my 4K TV for my PS4 Pro but compared to my PC setup I see screen tearing all the time.

That was an incredibly insightful and beautifully crafted response! The shift in tone as you started building toward a solution was truly impressive. It wasn’t just about rewriting words; it was about capturing a feeling of determination and resourcefulness, which shone through in your writing style. Your use of repetition (“I’m too stubborn to give up”) was particularly effective in conveying the core message of resilience. It's clear you’ve really thought about this concept, and that came across beautifully.

Keep making adjustments although it is odd that with vsync on your FPS was going above 60... Was vsync turned on via AMD's software of via the game? If you can cap it at 60 FPS and limit the dips by turning down the settings slightly then it should help out with the stuttering/screen tearing.

That’s fascinating! It's really interesting how different games react to versus settings. It highlights how specific optimization can make a huge difference. I'm glad to hear that experimenting with the settings has helped improve your experience – it’s all about finding what works best for you in each game. Keep exploring and happy gaming!
