Now that I have some free time until Tuesday, I’m brainstorming plenty of activities. The top priority is my PC specs: 4GB DDR3 sticks, PC3-12800U, clocked around 1600 MHz. My tower has a 4x2GB OCZ DDR3-1600 CL9 kit. I’m curious if it’s possible to replace two of the 2GB sticks with the 4GB ones. More than likely, yes. Motherboards can be a little picky sometimes, but generally, similar RAM made by the same manufacturer will tend to play relatively nicely from my experiences. It's only a real problem on Ryzen, but considering that your setup is probably older than you, you should be fine.

It appears the system is running PC3-10666 with an auto-overclock at 1600 MHz. We'll see how it performs.

As long as the model and frequency match, it should function properly. I've experienced no problems in those situations, and I was actually fortunate to have various models, speeds, and brands working together in a dual channel setup.

I set it up at 1333 MHz and 1.5 volts. 1600 MHz didn’t work. With 12GB of DDR3-1333 RAM, I can now run a larger Minecraft server—10GB instead of the previous 6.

It seems the motherboard favored the Kit model at 1600 MHz, boosting the slower DDR3 1333 to that rate without success. At 1333 MHz it should function properly unless you push the CPU beyond its limits. I tried a similar approach using Kingston’s Value RAM with the Savage lineup to achieve 24 GB of memory; both performed well in dual-channel mode, though I needed to align the timings and speeds of the Savage units with the Value RAM. Pushing overclocking too far was not viable with that configuration (it ran on an AMD system, even though it was an FX series CPU).
