While assembling my computer, I noticed a recurring problem across several games. Both keyboards and the mouse operated correctly until occasionally the computer kept registering a key after I released my hand. Any subsequent keystrokes I made weren’t shown on the screen once they stopped registering. After a brief pause, the device returned to normal for an unpredictable duration before the issue repeated. The most illustrative case involved rapidly pressing 'a' and 'd' while moving sideways in-game. Once the input froze, my movements ceased entirely, and I resumed strafing for as long as keys were registered before the screen updated. This behavior repeats randomly until it happens again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. PC: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/dominic...ved/zYxWcf keyboard: Wooting 60he (this is wired)

I attempted two identical keyboards. Have you used them on another device?

There isn't another really old HP model. The older one worked fine with my old computer.

Are your motherboard drivers current, and do they only update when you play games?

Yes, they exist and it might simply be that gaming is the only moment when I'm typing for long stretches, making me the only one who observes it.

Consider using another USB port, switching to the front or rear depending on what you're currently employing. If not, verify if you can operate the mouse normally, as this is occurring. You might also increase keyboard usage in other applications, such as typing repeatedly in a document or text file while watching TV. Additionally, attempt testing under different stress conditions, like running Prime95 and then FurMark simultaneously.

I've tested various USB ports and can use my mouse smoothly now. I'll proceed with the Word document test next.

It seems like lag is coming from the keyboard, much like what I've noticed with Bluetooth keyboards before. However, since they're wired and different models, it doesn't seem to be the same. If this happens under certain conditions—like high CPU or GPU usage or at any time—you might try booting into Linux to mimic those settings and check if the issue persists. This could help identify whether the problem is hardware-related or software-driven.
