A similar experience to Witcher 3 would certainly push a GPU hard. Yet, why not try Furmark instead?

Far Cry 4 often causes my crash, but it works well in other titles so Max Payne 3 seems strange.

furmark prevents the GPU from hitting its maximum clock speed, which isn't ideal for testing OCR. It's mainly helpful for assessing heat and power consumption.

Using tools like OCCT or Furmark can create excessive pressure that doesn't mirror real game scenarios, meaning games offer the most accurate testing for OC stability.

This game keeps pushing GPU limits even at 4K resolution. Either that or Crysis 2/3.

Games can't repeat the same scenarios, so your outcomes won't be reliable. That's why benchmarking tools are recommended. Reduce the settings if you prefer a simpler experience, like 1600x900 resolution.

However, it's surprising to see consistent performance in benchmarks while specific games cause instability or crashes.

Engines and APIs behave differently; one issue might affect others without causing problems. Testing games is useful but best done after final adjustments. Bugs are normal, and most benchmarks have already smoothed out rough edges. Using a well-known game from a few years ago can give confidence in its stability. Personally, I test Furmark for OpenGL, Heaver for DirectX, and 3DMark (2013) for practical results.
