Right now I'm having fun with Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge on Steam. I had to use a Mad-Gods Editor that added some patches. One improved the points during Character Creation Rolls, another boosted them when leveling up. Playing on Expert mode with DOSBox. I'm thinking about getting some Ultru Games later.

Im playing the original fallout. It's pretty hard. There's a game called colonization which has a free and open source remake. The free one is called freecol. That game is interesting but pretty easy once you figure out how to get an economy going. Prob the only game ever made where you can get mega rich from genocide and war crimes.

You're stuck in Chrono Trigger and don't want to look up help online.

I often launch Heroes of Might and Magic 3 when I'm idle and looking for an activity.

I think that is one of the first Linux Games I got when I moved to Linux backin the early 2000's.

I revisit Siege of Avalon (1998) occasionally, a top-down RPG packed with dialogue and engaging live-action combat. Back then, most RPGs followed a turn-based style. It remains one of my all-time favorites, and nostalgia still makes it stand out today. The game lacks traditional guidance or quest markers—you must engage with every NPC to discover your path. Unfortunately, its sales were modest, leaving the DLC and later titles incomplete. Yet a small German fan community persists, maintaining it with modern PCs. They even created a patch to address lingering bugs and continue development. Some have even reconstructed unreleased content into mods with their own narratives. Few still play it, but it continues to garner appreciation.

When I get a little sentimental, I start playing the original Doom and AoE 2. I also enjoy Alpha Centauri and Star Wars TIE Fighter for extra nostalgia vibes. So yes—some games still really spark my interest, even though they’re older.

Back when Loki Software existed, I bought a copy of Sid Meyers Alpha Centauri with the expansion pack. Years later I got another one from GOG.com. I still enjoy playing it now and occasionally.

I haven't tried the Game or its FOSS release. I've only used FreeCiv a few times.
