Setup Window Installation
Hi, I've been attempting to set up Windows 8.1 x34 on a x64 machine. I extracted the ISO using RAR on my USB drive and loaded it, setting it as boot priority. However, it kept showing up and rebooting multiple times without any progress. The system recently used an HDD that was previously running Windows 10 x64 as a boot device. My storage device is brand new, and I'm just starting with Windows installation. For your specs (core i3-10100 gtx750, 8GB, 2,666MHz), there might be compatibility issues. You may need to try a different ISO or ensure the drive format matches. Consider consulting a guide specific to x64 setups or seeking community help.
You need to avoid using an archive tool to transfer files to USB. Use Rufus to create a bootable USB drive. The system should run 32-bit Windows only, and it will utilize just 4GB of your 8GB RAM.
I didn’t note it was an SD card reader. I formatted the card on my phone, but Android 11 only supports fat32 volumes and won’t let me move files larger than 4GB. I’m planning to use whatever lets the PC boot into Windows first before upgrading later. I don’t have a desktop setup yet.
You're asking about creating a bootable USB drive, but you're unsure if you have another computer available. You mentioned using tools like RUFUS or ISO-based methods for Windows 10/8.1/7, which are common ways to make bootable drives.
