I just installed a new SSD—Samsung Evo 1TB. While trying the data migration tool, the representative mentioned I needed a recovery partition, so they said it wouldn’t work. Now I’m considering a clean install because my current OS was Windows 8 and I upgraded to 8.1. Should I install Windows 8 or the 8.1 ISO during the setup? Also, if I go with Windows 8, can I still upgrade to 8.1 later?

For Windows 8.1, use the ISO file but remember to get Keyfinder to verify the Windows product key, especially if it differs from the sticker location.

Ensure your system has Windows 8 installed. Reinstall it from the original drive using the product key. Proceed to update Windows. Move to version 8.1 via the Windows store. Complete the process successfully.
